Leapfrog Day Nursery - West Croydon
Ofsted Report — Strong Standard in Every Area - August 2026
Achievement — Strong standard
"Children make excellent progress from their starting points. This includes children who face barriers to their learning and children who have special educational needs and/or disabilities." Ofsted noted that our children "grow rapidly in their confidence, independence and communication," and leave us with "the essential knowledge and skills needed for future success."
Curriculum and teaching — Strong standard
"Teaching is highly effective across the setting." Inspectors saw babies in "a language-rich environment," toddlers being supported to name feelings like 'happy', 'nervous' or 'sad', and pre-schoolers "confidently matching quantities to numerals up to 20."
Children's welfare and wellbeing — Strong standard
"Staff know children exceptionally well and create a nurturing environment where children feel safe, valued and understood." Ofsted highlighted our settling-in routines, our healthy habits and mealtimes, and our regular trips to local parks.
Behaviour, attitudes and routines — Strong standard
Our 'slow pedagogy' approach was recognised as underpinning "calm and well-structured routines," with yoga and music and movement helping children "regulate their emotions... and develop secure self-regulation skills."
Inclusion — Strong standard
"Staff carefully and skilfully adjust activities to meet the needs of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and other vulnerable children." Ofsted found that our team "make a positive and lasting difference" to these children's development.
Leadership and governance — Strong standard
"Leaders have embedded a culture of high expectations, professionalism and continuous improvement." Inspectors noted that we protect our team's wellbeing, and that when a member of staff asked to teach Spanish, we made it part of the curriculum.

Babies
Our bright and playful baby room is location on our ground floor and home to age 3 months to 18 months. This room is full of sensory delights and lots of colour and texture for the little ones to explore. We have cots for smaller babies and sleep mats for older children for naps. This is a nurturing warm space, filled with lots of cozy corners as well as space for messy play and sand and water discovery.
-

Tinies
Our Tinies Room is for children aged between 18 months to 2.5 years. It is a large space designed for these walkers to now explore. In this room we introduce more role play activities and arts and crafts for our little ones. As well as the core areas of learning, we gradually start to include more layers and begin to encourage independence in appropriate areas.
-

Toddlers
Our toddler room is our largest room as this age group love to move around quickly from various activities and have lots of energy and enthusiasm. We have toddler sized toilets for this room as we begin to teach potty training and independent self care. We begin to introduce slightly more structure for this age group and focus time activities play a huge role in building on their learning and development.

Preschool
Our little leapfrogs have finally made it to our preschool room which focuses on ensuring all our children are reaching their milestones and ready for big school! In this room, our talented teachers help develop various skills and understanding to the children via a challenging curriculum. This room has direct access to the garden so the children can enjoy free flow in and out throughout the day. Each year we hold a graduation ceremony for all our preschoolers to celebrate their completed journey with us

Garden
We have a lovely garden at our nursery which includes a grass lawn and rubber flooring surround. We have a mud kitchen, gardening area, sandpit, water stations, slides and trikes and many many more. The garden is the heart of our space and all the children use it many times throughout the day.
